Another beauty rolls off Tory Mucaro's assembly line and paint shop. Damn, I like old Camaros. Tory's narration:
It hasn't been a very productive year model wise for me. However, I did finally finish a somewhat special job for my daughter Nicole. She asked me if I could build a model of her boss' 1967 Camaro SS 350 Convertible for her to present to him for Christmas. Of course how could I refuse her, and so I undertook what at first seemed like a fairly simple project. I was wrong.
There are no current kits of 1967 Camaro convertibles. The is however a very nice new kit from Revell of a 1967 Camaro SS 396 hardtop. So I used it along with a Revell 1969 Camaro SS Convertible's rear deck and interior tub to convert the kit. Another problem is that her boss' car has a small block while the kit came with a big block. So I had to locate and fit the small block into the kit. Then the wheel and tire combination was another problem, he has big and little BF Goodrich Radial TAs mounted on Crager SS wheels which had to be sourced. Funny thing is that locating the tires was a lot harder than the wheels, not many kits came with Goodrich tires, and even fewer came with big and littles. There were plenty more challenges, like the paint that is Cadillac Pearl White which is a 3 step paint consisting of base, mid and clear top coats. I can go on and on, but the good news is I finished it this past weekend just in time for her to present it to him on Monday. The good news is he was delighted with it!
So another obligation is fulfilled.
Maybe someday in the near future I can build something I want to build!
