My friend Tory Mucaro continues to produce his brand of impressive work.Tory writes:
I know it's been a while since I sent out photos of my latest work, mostly since I haven't been building much lately. I did however complete this model last Friday just in time for my model car club's heavy commercial contest. I had built this when I was a kid, but always wanted to have another crack at it. I won't lie, it was quite a challenge and I came close to canning it more than once. But in the end I think it turned out pretty nice. The original kit came out in the late 60's and I wanted to emulate the original box art. I took a few liberties and added some additional color, but I think it still captures the feel of the time period.
A month later, Tory sent this follow-up.
Since I was under pressure to finish this model by the June Meeting in order for it to qualify for the Heavy Commercial Contest, I left off all the nifty little details included in the Wrecker kit. Since then, I added the broom, shovel, floor jack, gas cans, fire extinguisher, spare hook, tool box and wood planks. I also added some tow chain and fabricated a box for the chain and fuel tanks. I also made a rack for the broom and shovel, as well as a strap to secure the 50 gallon drum. I also added some foil to the handles of the storage compartments on the sides of the wrecker body to give it a little more "bling". Finally I did some paint chipping on the rear edge of the deck as this area would have been prone to such. I think I will now consider it finished.
Tory, that's some truly impressive work there! Very nice indeed.
