January 2012 -- 1/72 Matchbox F-101B X 2
Lord have mercy, how these two dragged along.
The sharp eye will notice they aren't exactly twins, but that was deliberate.
For some reason, No.13 here had a black outline around her ANG shield -- very non-standard. Want a challenge? Do that black outline in 1/72nd scale. If there's a decal printed that way, I'm not aware of it.
The bird on the base was done with some scanning and printing on white decal stock. (And some intricate cutting and trimming.)
Next!
Great job on those Voodoos Pat. What are your thoughts on the quality of the Revell 1/72 F-101B?

Thank-you, Doug. I built the Revell kit shortly after it was released -- 1990? Having built a few of the Monogram quarter scalers by that point, the smaller cousin seemed quite familiar. Don't recall any serious issues with building it at all. Certainly a couple light years ahead of the Matchbox rendition. I've got one unbuilt one in the stash and I in fact pulled it out for some reference pointers with these two. My biggest criticism of the kit, and it's a personal thing, is the depth of the recessed surface detail. On the heavy side for 1/72 to my eyes, but it's not a game breaker. Don't understand why it's been so long out of production since it was released.

A pair of Voodoos? What's not to like? And built in flight? Made my day!
Although I still prefer the single-seater variant in natural metal but...
Great work as always Pat!

Thanks, Tory! As for a shiny silver single-seater, one of those is on my "before I die" list. Pretty sure that's the ONLY Voodoo version I've never done.

Hello, I ran across your blog here while perusing Hyperscale's 1/144 Forum. Wow, your work is gorgeous, and I'd love to help somebody's small business by acquiring some of those nifty stands you use for your in-flight models. Could you offer me a few suggestions re: how to get some of those?
Thanks and cheers, Dave Haas

Thank you, Dave!
As far as those stands go, they're kind of like my signature. The only way I sell them is with a model airplane mounted on top.
FineScale Modeler published my article on making your own, April '99. Each of them is a little project in itself. : ^ (
